PU’s ranking jumps significantly in latest QS rankings


LAHORE: (Thursday, June 19, 2025): Punjab University has significantly improved in the latest QS Rankings as now it has been ranked at 542, while last year it was on 570. QS Ranking is considered as one of the most reliable ranking in academic circles around the globe. QS World University Ranking, has issued its new ranking of universities across the world. In his appreciation message to the University ranking committee, faculty, staff and students Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has said that it is a team effort that PU is continuously improving its standing in the international rankings. Ranking is the significant parameter to assess university performance. Ranking is the tool to attract best students to the leading recognized Universities. He proudly mentioned that in “Employment Outcomes” indicator, PU has been ranked number 1 in Pakistan. This indicator reflects the ability of the University to ensure a high level of employability for its graduates, while also nurturing future leaders who go on to make impact in their respective fields of study. The vice chancellor mentioned that in coming years the focus of the incumbent administration will be on further enhancing the PU international ranking so that not only from Pakistan but also from the other countries best talent joins the PU. “The top priority is to provide congenial work and study environment to every single associated individual. Recent operation at the University hostel area proves that every possible step will be ensured to provide better services to the legitimate students. University will be involved in community engagement, environmental awareness, efficient use of renewable energy, efficient water and waste management, carbon emissions and diversity,” Prof Ali said in a statement. The VC vowed that the university management will make sure that every faculty member contributes significantly in writing research papers in top tier journals. Mechanism will be developed to reward the top cited authors. He said the university teachers and students are encouraged to become entrepreneurs so that university can contribute in socioeconomic development of the Country. He lauded the efforts of Chairman, Secretary and members of Ranking Committee for continuously making efforts to improve the University’s ranking. He said that the committee has done exceptional job in recent years by understanding the ranking process and suggesting various preventive and corrective measures to the University administration.
